Car crashes into home goods store; left there for almost a week

Sav McKee

After midnight last Saturday, a car crashed into a popular store for discounted home goods. And, well, the car is still there, almost a week later.

An employee at Barton’s Home Outlet, located at 2433 E. Dublin Granville Rd., said that the city has yet to pick up the car, which has completely destroyed the awning out front, as well as a structural pillar and several windows.

According to Lt. Nick Davis of Columbus Division of Fire, the car is still there because building and zoning has to look closely at the structure to make sure it’s safe to remove the car.

Fortunately, the Home Outlet has been able to stay open throughout the mess. “People can still come in safely through a different entrance,” said Home Outlet.

Columbus Division of Fire said there were fortunately no reported injuries.
