Watch: Car turns around on 315, drives into grass to avoid traffic

Last week, one Columbus driver decided to get creative in order to avoid a backup on State Route 315.

According to a video shared by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), on the morning of Dec. 9, a driver who was merging on State Route 315 northbound at Town Street decided they didn’t want to wait in traffic that was the result of a crash that ocurred just north of where they were merging onto the freeway.

At the end of the on-ramp, the driver made a U-turn, pulling off 315 and into the grass next to the freeway. The rest of video shows the driver continuing across the grass and out of frame. Thankfully, ODOT said there weren’t any other issues created by the driver’s decision to take the scenic route, in a manner of speaking.

This is just the latest Ohio driver caught on camera stopping or turning around on major thoroughfares. Earlier this year, ODOT released two separate videos of drivers stopping on I-71, causing multi-vehicle accidents.
