Cedar Point ‘Tilt’ coaster riders stuck dangling 160 feet in the air after third major ride malfunction

Since opening on June 28th, Cedar Point’s new Siren’s Curse rollercoaster has been living up to its name. Dare we ask — is this attraction actually cursed?

Known as the tallest, faster, and longest “tilt” coaster in North America, the new ride first experienced issues on its opening day that left passengers in a vertical position for almost 10 minutes. The coaster was eventually able to be restarted, resulting in a smooth rest of the ride. Less than a week later, Siren’s Curse was stuck yet again on July 2nd, but was unable to be restarted. Guests were forced to walk down the track to exit the coaster.

Now, a third major malfunction has occurred after the ride most recently stopped mid-tilt on July 19th, as the riders neared the coaster’s signature tilt and the car was shifted forward to face straight down. The ride was able to be resumed after a significant pause, where passengers were left dangling 160 feet in the air at a 45-degree angle for 20 minutes. One user in the Cedar Point Nation Facebook Group posted footage alleging that the riders were stuck in “pouring down rain.”

Each time, there were no reported injuries and passengers were able to either continue the ride without issues, or exit the ride safely.
