Feds invigorating search for Ohio murderer who escaped prison in 70s

The U.S. Marshal Service is making a new push to capture a convicted killer who escaped from an Ohio prison over 50 years ago.
Recently, U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Ohio Pete Elliott released an age-progressed photo of killer Lester Eubanks, who escaped from prison during an honor assignment Christmas shopping trip in December of 1973.
He was in prison for the slaying of 14 year-old Mansfield resident Mary Ellen Deener in 1965.

His age-progressed photo was first generated in 2019, but investigators have “meticulously” updated the photo to reflect what he likely looks like today. He would be 81 years if still alive.
A reward of $50,000 is available to anyone with information leading to his capture.
Eubanks was last seen in Southern California in the 1970s, operating under the pseudonym Victor Young. He was also believed to be working as a janitor at St. Francis Medical Center in Lynwood, California, in the late 80s or early 90s.
“Fifty-nine years ago Lester Eubanks was sentenced to death for the vicious murder of Mary Ellen Deener,” Elliott said in a press release, “and even after 59 years the U.S. Marshals Service will not give up on this case until Eubanks is found, justice can finally be served, and Mary Ellen’s family can rest.”
