Fire destroys 77 year old Central Ohio apple orchard and market
“We are heartbroken to share that early this morning a fire destroyed our market, cider press, storage, and grading area,” a longstanding orchard and market posted on Facebook over the weekend.
Legend Hills Orchard and Farm Market, in Utica, has been around since 1947—but on early Sunday morning, a fire tore through multiple buildings on the longstanding orchard, destroying their property. Investigators are still working to determine the cause.
“Thankfully, everyone is safe, but because of the loss, our farm market will be closed for the remainder of the season.”

The good news is that this isn’t the end for Legend Hills. They announced that although they’re closed right now, they’re looking forward to welcoming back their fans in the future.
Renae Hoar’s family has owned Legend Hills for three generations. Her apartment was attached to one of the buildings that was engulfed in flames. Her sister posted on Facebook that she’s starting a GoFundMe for Renae, who lost everything. “For those that do not know, my sister Renae lived in the apartment on the back side of the orchard. If you have visited the farm then you have most likely met her, as she works the counter in the market everyday. She ran out just in time before the fire consumed the building and all she has left is the clothes she was wearing and her phone. Everything she owned is completely gone.”
If you’d like to support Renae and her family during this time, here’s the link to the GoFundMe page.
