Nwaru, who owned S. Automotive in Whitehall, doctored the odometers—in order to have them fraudulently reflect lower mileage— of at least 300 vehicles sold at his business between January 2021-January 2023.
Court documents said that an estimated 60 percent of the vehicles Nwaru sold since 2014 have had their odometers altered. He rolled back an estimated 31 million miles in total on all of the vehicles he sold with altered odometers.
