An incident that occurred here in Columbus is making international headlines.

According to Franklin Country Municipal Court Records, Michael Roen McCullough, who played as a walk-on long snapper for the Buckeyes from 2018-20, has been charged with one felony count of strangulation.

Documents say that his victim, McCullough’s girlfriend, alleged that he broke her phone while in an argument in the car together. Then, he punched her in the face multiple times, grabbed her throat, and pushed her against the window, strangling her. She said she couldn’t breathe and blacked out, only to regain consciousness when they arrived in front of their house.

An officer observed she had a black eye, a cut, a swollen lower lip, and a bruise on her throat. Daily Mail UK not only picked up the story, but Fox News, The New York Post, and other sources did as well.

McCullough was arrested on Saturday, with his bond set on Tuesday for $50,000.

Columbus residents have been vocal over this arrest, with people posting signs around town calling for a boycott. McCullough is allegedly the director of Townhall and Mandrake, which are owned by Bobby George, who was arrested for attempted murder and rape. A protest is scheduled for September 6th, 5-7PM, at 729 N. High St.
