Former OSU, NFL lineman charged with vehicular homicide in Dublin crash


A former offensive standout for the Buckeyes was arrested following a fatal crash over the weekend.
According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, Kirk Barton was arrested on June 21 and charged with aggravated vehicular homicide. He is scheduled to have an initial court date on Monday.
According to an ESPN report, Dublin police said Barton was traveling in his truck at a “high rate of speed” just before 3 a.m. when he struck a car.

The driver of the other vehicle, Ethan Wence Perry, died at the scene of the crash. He was 24.
Barton was briefly hospitalized before being transferred to the Franklin County Jail.
An offensive lineman for the Buckeyes, Barton was first team All-American and first team All Big Ten for the 2007 season. He was drafted by the Chicago Bears in the seventh round of the NFL Draft. Barton bounced between rosters in the NFL until 2010. He played in only one game for the Bears in 2008.
