The topic of ICE raids on Central Ohio restaurants continues to stand as a divisive topic. So much so, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) is chiming in.

Over the weekend, the publication released a story titled A Taco Shop Raid Splits an Ohio Town in Red America.

It’s citing an Oct. 9 raid on the Mount Vernon restaurant Pancho’s Tacos, which is located at 110 Mount Vernon Ave. Since the raid, which saw many of the eatery’s employees arrested, Pancho’s Tacos has remained closed.

Through local politicians and Mount Vernon residents, both in favor and against the ICE raid on the restaurant, the WSJ story uses the example of Pancho’s Tacos to illuminate the complex reality of immigration law enforcement and how it affects local communities socially, economically and more.

“Rumors swirl through coffee shops, churches and social media. The raid has sparked heated public meetings and rallies that drew crowds to the town square. Divisions have been sharpened, in ways that don’t fit neatly into partisan boxes,” WSJ wrote.
