Hidden camera found in Hocking Hills rental cabin violated 49 adults and 13 children; owner of property arrested
A cozy winter family getaway last year turned into a horror movie when Central Ohioan Alyssa Bradds discovered a hidden camera in the bathroom of a rental cabin.
Bradds told investigators she found a black cord hanging from the ceiling above the toilet of her Hocking Hills rental cabin on February 19, 2024. She and her husband found the cord connected to a black box in the ceiling that had a flashing green light and an antenna on it, and they noticed it was aimed towards the shower.

A search warrant was obtained, and an investigation found that Jason Yard, of Akron, purchased multiple recording devices via Amazon from 2019-2023. On the microSD card of the hidden cabin camera, footage of Yard adjusting the device was discovered.
According to detectives, 49 adults and 13 children were potentially recorded at this cabin. One video file showed a couple engaging in sexual activity.
In June of 2025, Yard was indicted by a Hocking Hills grand jury on four felony counts of illegal use of nudity-oriented material involving minor as well as two misdemeanor counts of voyeurism. In October, he changed his plea to no contest on one felony count of illegal use of this material, and he will be required to register as a Tier 1 sex offender under Ohio law.
He faces up to 12 years in prison, but his sentencing is scheduled for November 12 in Hocking County Common Pleas Court.
