Lorde, the Grammy Award-winning singer is in Columbus this week, and here’s where she shopped for clothes
It’s not every day you get a DM from an award-winning artist, but apparently, for this cool local vintage shop, it was just another Monday.
Yesterday, Midwest Vintage Collective, located at 400 W. Rich St., received a DM from none other than Lorde, who’s in town for her upcoming concert this week. “Hellllo there! Am in town the next couple days and was wondering if it might be possible to come by?” Lorde asked MVC around noon.
Tony Cipriani and Adam Himmel, owners of MVC, first greeted Lorde’s styling time. “We thought that might be it…but then she messaged again,” said the duo. “We might be outside your door!” Lorde messaged them.

Cipriani and Himmel told 614Now that the singer’s styling team picked out a 1980s Genesis band raglan, and Lorde herself picked out a 1990s COSI long-sleeved tee as well as a late 1990s/Y2K Nike athletic long-sleeve.
“We are stoked, obviously. We love being able to share our collection with anyone, but to put it in front of such a high-profile artist, who was super cool and down to Earth…super rad,” said Cipriani and Himmel.
And if you’re wondering what Lorde wore to go vintage shopping, the owners of MVC gave us the scoop: “A 1992 Ministry band tee, which was insanely dope.”
Midwest Vintage Collective is open by appointment only, so send over a DM on Instagram if you’d like to visit. They specialize in rare, vintage t-shirts like the ones Lorde bought for herself, but if you can’t make it in-person, browse their collection online.
