New Ohio video store dedicated to horror VHS tapes now open

A killer new Ohio video store opened for business earlier this year. Literally.

Killer Video, an Akron-based concept billed as a “retro horror exhibit, gallery and gift shop” is serving up nostalgia to fans of 80s and 90s horror.

Located on the lower level of 453 S. High St., STE 103 in Akron, the new concept feels akin to walking into your favorite video rental store (RIP Blockbuster), with VHS cases on display throughout the store, vintage posters, movie cut-outs and more.

Guests aren’t able to actually rent VHS tapes, but the store—complete with a gift shop and horror gallery boasting vintage posters and other memorabilia–serves as an “gallery” dedicated to 80s and 90s horror. According to Killer Video’s website, the exihibt takes 30-60 minutes to complete.

While you can visit the gift shop whenever it’s open, you’ll need to purchase tickets in advance to stroll through the gallery.
