Ohio one of the most ‘overweight & obese’ states in the nation, new study finds
The Buckeye State has been tapped as one of the fattest in the country, according to a study from WalletHub.
The new WalletHub study found Ohio to be the 12th most ‘overweight & obese’ state in the country. Here’s the top 12:

- Mississippi
- Arkansas
- Louisiana
- Alabama
- Tennessee
- Kentucky
- Texas
- Delaware
- Oklahoma
- Maine
- Ohio

WalletHub analysed each state across several categories, including Obesity & Overweight Prevalence (number of obese and overweight children, adults and teens), Health Consequences (numbers of individuals with health problems linked to obesity, such as type 2 diabetes or heart disease), and Food & Fitness (eating habits of individuals in each state and availability of fresh food).
Ohio was 12th in Obesity & Overweight Prevalence (which was weighted to count more than the other two sections), 24th in Health Consequences and 15th in Food & Fitness.
