Ohio’s first and only ‘dual-racing water coaster’ now open

Ohio thrill seekers have a new way to keep cool this summer. Kings Island’s Soak City Water Park has officially debuted their latest attraction: a side-by-side racing water coaster.
Soak City opened Memorial Day weekend with RiverRacers, the first and only water slide of its kind in Ohio. RiverRacers operates as a dual side-by-side “coaster” that reaches speeds up to 30 miles per hour. Two different slides let riders board rafts and race the competition, seeing who reaches the end first.
The water slide begins with a conveyor belt, launching the rafts into a 33-foot, 47-degree drop. Riders will then be lifted upward with thundering water jets, like climbing a roller coaster hill, before zooming through an enclosed tunnel with special light features. Riders will continue the slide before a final 180 turn that emerges them from the tunnel and into a steep drop to determine the winner.
