When someone mentions TownHall, some people probably think of health-conscious dinners and fresh lunches. But others might be thinking of the owner’s controversial history, especially surrounding events that allegedly occurred last year.

Bobby George, owner of local establishments TownHall, REBol, and Mandrake, among a handful of Cleveland restaurants, has been indicted on a new charge of strangulation more than a year after his original arrest for rape and attempted strangulation.

Last year, in August of 2024, George was facing nine felony counts in Cleveland’s Municipal Court, including attempted murder, rape, four counts of kidnapping, felonious assault, and two counts of strangulation. However, he originally pleaded not guilty at his arraignment in Cleveland Municipal Court on August 13, and posted a $200,000 bond. Since then, there were no new filings.

But then, on October 27, Cuyahoga County Court filed an “indictment on information,” charging George with one count of attempted strangulation.

Now, George is scheduled to face a judge in Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas on October 31.

During the incident last year, a woman that shared a home with George told Cleveland Police that Bobby George allegedly caused multiple injuries to her—he allegedly pinned her down to the ground, put his hands around her neck, and attempted to strangle her until she was unable to move or breathe.

The arrest warrant also said George slammed the victim’s head until she had blurred vision, ringing in her ears, and bleeding from her ears.

In other incident, the victim stated that George followed her to her car with a gun and forced her to get back out, keeping the gun on her stomach while leading her back inside to the home she escaped from. The arrest warrant also said George pushed a towel down the victim’s throat, and according to the warrant, he allegedly told the victim after she prayed to not die, “You think God is going to help you?”

The warrant also claims George raped the victim as she was coming out of the shower once.
