‘PEOPLE’ Magazine reports local realtor fired after leaving ‘hateful’ comment on Columbus restaurant receipt

A viral story about a Central Ohio realtor being fired for leaving a hateful message in lieu of a tip at a local restaurant has grabbed the attention of publications like PEOPLE Magazine and The New York Post.
On Monday, March 3rd, a Cazuela’s employee posted a picture of a receipt left at the restaurant, where a customer wrote the words, “ZERO. YOU SUCK. I HOPE TRUMP DEPORTS YOU.” Cazuela’s is a local Mexican restaurant, and the server for this customer, according to reports, is a natural-born, United States citizen of Latino background.

Although the person accused of writing the note crossed out their name on the signature part of the receipt, the second copy of the receipt still showed her full name.
PEOPLE states that the woman was reportedly employed by CENTURY 21 Real Estate here in Central Ohio. “We are aware of the situation with the agent in question. Hate has no place within the CENTURY 21 brand, and we are taking this very seriously,” a spokesperson from CENTURY 21 Excellence Realty told PEOPLE in a statement.
“After investigating the situation and connecting with the respective broker, as all companies affiliated with the CENTURY 21 brand are independently owned and operated, we can confirm that this agent is no longer affiliated with the brand,” the statement continued.
CENTURY 21 also took to Facebook to release a statement, which you can find here.
