While a 60-ton construction crane is difficult to hide, one was recently stolen from a Columbus construction site, and it’s still missing.

According to a social media post from the Sheriff’s Office, a 60-ton crane valued at half a million dollars was recently stolen from a construction site on Parsons Avenue near Eldorado Gaming Scioto Downs.

The crane was reported stolen yesterday morning at 8 a.m., although police said in a Facebook post that they believe the it was likely taken sometime over the weekend.

It was described as a 2019 Kenworth 60-ton Long Boom National Crane.

“Detectives believe the person(s) responsible for the theft would have considerable experience and specialized knowledge of such equipment,” a Facebook post about the crane from the Sheriff’s Office reads. “Given its size and value, the 60-ton crane would be difficult to conceal and should be easily recognizable.”

If you have any information about the incident, contact the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office’s Detective Bureau at 614-525-3351.
