Police: Ohio elementary student passes out Valentines with razor blades

An Akron first grader unknowingly distributed Valentine’s Day envelopes with razor blades, police say.

According to Akron Police, on Feb. 13 at the Hatton Community Learning Center, which is part of the Akron Public Schools system, a first grade student’s Valentine’s Day envelopes that were handed out to fellow class members contained razor blades.

It’s unclear how the razors ended up in the envelopes, but Police say the student’s father and them purchased pre-sealed Valentine’s Day envelopes from a local store. The student then decorated the envelopes, but supposedly did not open them.

It’s also not clear how many students received razor blades In their envelopes, but the incident is currently under investigation by Akron Police.

According to several reports, one child received a minor cut, but no other injuries were reported.
