Renowned Columbus chef competing on Bobby Flay’s Food Network show this week
We all know this Columbus chef can beat Bobby Flay, but can he beat Bobby Flay’s handpicked team of culinary titans?
Chef Avishar, who owns the renowned local restaurants Joya’s and Agni, competed on the Food Network show Beat Bobby Flay in 2023, and indeed, he beat Bobby Flay.
Now, he’s back two years later with the chance to win big on Flay’s newer show, Bobby’s Triple Threat, where Flay invites a chef to compete in three culinary rounds against his handpicked “titans.” Chef Avishar will pick a different titan to cook against in each round. In the first two rounds, Flay provides two ingredients for the chefs to cook with and only gives them 45 minutes to make a dish. But in the final round, Avishar gets to pick the two ingredients, with only 40 minutes to prepare the dish. The rounds are then judged in a blind taste test.

“The anxiety is real. The stakes are high,” Avishar Barua said on social media. “But getting to stand in that kitchen with them, talk to them as humans, cook alongside them — that part is something I’ll never forget, like a very vulnerable, very public form of therapy.”
“I can’t tell you how it is gonna go, but I can tell you it is one of the wildest experiences of my life,” he said.
If Avishar ends up with a final score higher than the titans, he’ll come back to Columbus with $25,000 in cash, and a locker at Flay’s “club” with his name plastered on it, allowing him to return to Flay’s club whenever he wants to.
