Three Ohioans make it on ‘Forbes’ list of ‘Richest People in the World’

You don’t necessarily need to move to Silicon Valley to become a billionaire. Three local billionaires are proving that you can make billions of dollars right here in Ohio.

Forbes released their annual “Richest People in the World” list, and three of these billionaires are Ohio natives, known for owning sports teams or retail industries.

Les Wexner of New Albany is of course one of them. According to Forbes, the 87 year old’s net worth is $7.9B. Wexner founded L Brands, a global retail empire that included Victoria’s Secret and Bath & Body Works, and served as CEO for more than 5 decades.

Denise York, a Youngstown native, is another one of Ohio’s billionaires, with a net worth of $6.4B. She and her family own 90% of the San Francisco 49ers, one of the 10 most valuable teams in the NFL.

Mike Brown and his family, who own the Cincinnati Bengals, have acquired a net worth of $4B.
