Truck carrying 40,000 pounds of chicken catches fire on Ohio highway

Jack McLaughlin

A truck carrying a whole lot of chicken caught on fire on I-90 earlier this week. And by a whole lot, we mean 40,000 pounds worth.

According to a story published by Cleveland19, a truck carrying 40,000 pounds of cooked chicken caught on fire while traveling west on I-90 just after 7 a.m. Monday.

Videos posted to social media show that the blaze forced closures of two of the highway’s three westbound lanes.

A The Chronicle story noted that, while the fire was extinguished by approximately 8 a.m., the truck was being unloaded of its cargo until 2 p.m. on Monday, which was nearly seven hours after the incident occurred.

The drive of the truck was not injured, and it’s currently unclear what caused the fire.
