Weapon-manufacturing plant chooses Central Ohio for giant factory, bringing largest job creation in Ohio history

A hyperscale weapon manufacturing facility chose our city for the place to produce autonomous systems and weapons for the United States and its allies.
Anduril Industries Inc. claims that with their $1 billion factory, over 4,000 direct jobs will be added in Central Ohio by 2035, and another $2 billion in economic output, “making it the largest single job-creation initiative in Ohio’s history,” according to Anduril Industries’ press release. In comparison, Intel promised 3,000 jobs. According to JobsOhio, incentives to build a facility in Columbus include a Job Creation Tax Credit, but an official agreement will be made on January 27.

“Ohio is the ideal location for Anduril’s first Arsenal factory with its robust infrastructure to support Anduril’s unique needs, a highly skilled and diverse manufacturing workforce, and a legacy of leadership in aerospace and defense,” said Anduril Industries’ press release.
The factory will be located near Rickenbacker Airport, called “Arsenal-1,” occupying 5 million square feet. Thousands of high-tech weapons will be made here. “By harnessing a world-class workforce and a scalable, software-driven approach to manufacturing, Arsenal-1 will set the standard for how we respond to the challenges of the future fight,” said Anduril CEO BRian Schimpf. “Ohio’s infrastructure and talent pool make it the ideal home for this historic effort to rebuild the arsenal of democracy.”
Construction begins in July of 2026.
