Fall in Full Swing: Your guide to Westerville this season
BBQ got its deep hooks into me when I had…
There’s something magical about fall in Ohio—the crisp mornings, the crunch of leaves underfoot, and that perfect excuse to break out your coziest sweater. And when it comes to soaking up the season, Westerville is seriously bringing the vibes this year. Whether you’re hunting pumpkins, sipping a drink outdoors, or discovering the newest local hot spots, this is your ultimate guide to fall fun in Uptown Westerville and beyond.
Park It Here
Westerville’s Park system is basically begging you to lace up your sneakers and head outside. With 26 parks, 51 miles of paved recreational trails, 67 acres of wetlands and more than 650 acres of parkland, it’s the ultimate backdrop for fall foliage walks, weekend picnics, or just a quick reset in nature. Pro tip: grab a pumpkin spice latte from a local café and wander through Heritage Park—extra points if you manage to resist taking 87 leaf pics for Instagram.
Your Guide to Westerville’s Fall Happenings
- Westerville’s Fourth Friday Festival (Sept. 26 and Oct. 24, 6–9 p.m.) turns Uptown Westerville into one big block party. Expect food trucks, live music, a variety of vendors, and a whole lot of community vibes. In October, it is even more magical: the Wizards & Wands Festival at the Westerville Public Library is from 4–9 pm. This free, all-ages celebration brings fantasy fandoms to life with spellbinding performances, fantasy-themed missions, and immersive decor throughout the library. Costumes are encouraged, and admission is free.
- Westerville Farmers Market – happening every Saturday through September 27, from 9 a.m.–12 p.m. in the North High Brewing parking lot. Heads-up: this is the last month of market season! Don’t worry—fresh finds and local fun return in April 2026.
- Uptown Day Out: Fall Edition (Sept. 28, 12–5 pm) is a breezy and creative Uptown adventure. Start at your chosen spot—Blend Candle Co., Good Vibes Winery, or Westerville Florist—and then bounce around. You’ll be crafting your own fall-scented candle, sipping wine, and building an autumn-inspired bouquet…plus popping into Uptown Shops along the way. It’s basically the Pinterest board of fall days come to life. Purchase your tickets.
- The Great Westerville Pumpkin Glow (Oct. 16–19, 6:30–10 p.m. at Heritage Park) is Westerville’s signature fall must-see. Expect an expanded, glowing pumpkin trail that winds through the entire park—think upgraded jack-o-lantern displays, glow-in-the-dark mini-golf, inflatable games, axe-throwing, and much more. Learn more and purchase tickets.
Shop, Sip, Stroll
Speaking of Uptown, it’s the heart of Westerville’s fall charm. Between boutique shopping, local eats, and the ever-popular DORA (yes, that’s Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area—aka you can sip while you stroll), Uptown makes the perfect weekend hangout. Grab a seasonal brew or cocktail to-go, wander the historic streets, and pop into the shops for one-of-a-kind finds.
What’s New in Town
If you haven’t been to Westerville lately, it’s time for a refresh—because the lineup of new spots is stacked. Smash Park Westerville is the ultimate playground for all ages, with pickleball front and center on indoor and outdoor courts. Beyond the courts, you’ll find duckpin bowling, axe-throwing, arcade favorites, yard games, and more—plus the area’s first rooftop bar and crave-worthy eats and drinks to keep the fun going from day to night. Begin Café is already winning hearts with coffee and baked goods worth the drive. Plant lovers need Overgrown Cbus on their radar, while foodies can’t miss Ampersand Asian Supper Club. For anyone who loves supporting local while indulging their creative side, The Giving Room offers an elegant, community-focused space for workshops, floral creations, gift crate building—and so much more.
