One of Latin America’s most lauded public artists brings murals and more to Dublin
There’s still time to catch the work of one of Latin America’s most decorated muralists right here in Central Ohio.
The work of Alejandro “Mono” González, the Chilean visual artist who was awarded the 2025 National Prize for Visual Arts (the highest national accolade within the genre), will have his work on display at the Dublin Arts Council until Oct. 30, as he finishes out his local residency. The Dublin Arts Council is located at 7125 Riverside Dr.
As part of his residency, González teamed up with local artist Adam Hernandez to create a mural, alongside help from the Dublin community. The mural, which is pictured below, is currently located in the plaza at the Dublin branch of the Columbus Metropolitan Library.

González’ work–which began in Chile but has received praise internationally throughout his lengthy career– is brightly colored and often fractional in nature, creating bright, visual tessellations that touch on themes of social justice, environmentalism and community. The Dublin exhibit will feature his prints displayed in a gallery setting, allowing visitors a uniquely intimate way of viewing his painting.
“I learned the characteristics of what I do on the street, in public spaces. With the first mural, during [Salvador Allende Chilean presidential campaign] in 1964, this street experience begins precisely; the collective process I continue to use to create a mural comes from that historical learning,” González said in an artist statement.
