After three years, Downtown-area spot serving beignets, coffee, closes doors
A New Orleans-themed spot for coffee, baked goods and more has shuttered
Way Down Yonder Beignets & Coffee has closed the doors of its Discovery District storefront. It was located at 386 E. Main St.
Created as a sister concept to the New Orleans-inspired eatery Way Down Yonder (which itself closed last year), Way Down Yonder Beignets & Coffee served as the coffee and baked good-focused spinoff to the original eatery.

A statement on its website notes the concept’s final day at its Main Street space, which opened in the summer of 2021, was June 22. Currently, a notice to leave premises (from Grant Hotel Partners LLC) is posted on the door of the eatery, claiming Way Down Yonder Beignets & Coffee had until June 23 to vacate the space.
According to a statement provided to 614Now by owner Yonder Miller, “What happened wasn’t just a business transition, but a hard lesson in the realities many small, independent entrepreneurs face, especially those of us building something from the ground up without major backing.”
And while the coffee and beignet spot is currently closed, according to Miller, the brand is aiming to launch a new location in the future.
“Though our time at this location has come to an end, this is not goodbye. We are actively seeking a new space that better fits our needs and allows us to continue serving you, with more comfort, more creativity, and the same soulful experience you’ve come to love,” the statement reads.
