Star Wars-themed event coming to the Main Library early May

If you’re stopping by the Main Library weekend after next, prepare to be transported to a galaxy far, far away. 

On May 2, the Columbus Metropolitan Main Library will be decked out with all things Star Wars—costumed characters, props, and recreated sets—including a TIE fighter cockpit, a droid depot, a swoop bike, and Java’s Café, where you can nab a cup of Tatooine blue milk.

“Now in its fourth year, May the Fourth at Columbus Metropolitan Library has grown into one of Columbus’s most beloved free community celebrations,” says Tom Betti, library volunteer and member of the 501st Legion, an international Star Wars costuming club with over 16,000 active members across 69 countries. “Whether you’re a lifelong Star Wars fan or experiencing it for the first time, we want everyone in Ohio to feel that sense of wonder and have fun in a galaxy far, far away, no theme park ticket required.”

Throughout the day, visitors of all ages will also be able to view original, early script drafts of the original trilogy, build a lightsaber, and win prizes in Star Wars trivia. 

The event will take place on May 2 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Main Library, located at 96 S. Grant Ave.
