Here’s why Atlantic Records bought soft serve for an entire school of graduating Central Ohio seniors

Hilliard Darby’s graduation was planned to be held May 20th at Ohio Stadium, but due to Bruno Mars’ The Romantic Tour, Darby was left with no choice but to reschedule the ceremony to the 19th.

The Instagram account “darbyneedsbrunomars” documented Hilliard Darby seniors begging the pop singer to make a special appearance at their graduation ceremony in return for the forced rescheduled event.

Hours before the ceremony, in a last-ditch attempt to reach Mars, the account posted again, featuring a reserved seat in case Mars decided to make a last-minute RSVP. Little did the Darby seniors know, Mars had been planning a sweet surprise all along.

Little Ladies Soft Serve was contacted by Atlantic Records almost two weeks before Darby’s Graduation. Mars generously paid to have their ice cream truck–of course, custom wrapped to promote Mars’ new album–and hand out free sundaes for over 3,500 guests.

Little Ladies quickly got to work, contacting True Choice Graphics to wrap their truck in such a short amount of time. Atlantic Records informed them to be prepared to serve a large number of people, involving many staff members in assembling sundaes and working the event.

The summer storm was no threat to this delicious ending to a school year. After serving a majority of the crowd, Little Ladies packed up their trucks, not before stopping in the parking lot to hand out the last of their sundaes to any stragglers in the rain.

Graduating for the Darby seniors was a sweet success, closing out the night with one last video to the ice cream man himself, “Thank you, Bruno Mars!”
