Columbus-native band advances to live round of America’s Got Talent

Columbus-native duo Bird and Byron are making their way to the main stage on America’s Got Talent.

Nick Lorenz and Blake Bird both grew up surrounded by the Columbus music scene. Lorenz worked as a part-time stagehand for Promo West, and Bird was heavily inspired by Twenty One Pilots’ rise—now the two have worked their way through the nation, advancing to the live shows of season 21 of America’s Got Talent.

Formed in 2019 over a dinner at a Columbus Rusty Bucket, the two are now based in Nashville, Tennessee, dedicating their lives to rock & soul music.

“My parents raised me on a lot of great music when I was younger: ‘90s rock, ‘80s rock, bands like AC/DC and Van Halen,” said Bird in an interview with Experience Columbus. 

After their already successful stint on AGT, Bird and Byron are returning to Columbus in December for a hometown show at A&R Music Bar.

The America’s Got Talent Live Show begins on August 18th, and be sure to catch Bird and Byron in December for a show to remember.
