Columbus woman officially breaks unique world record
A Columbus-based circus artist officially became a Guinness World Record holder this summer.
On June 7, Cyara Hotopp, in her home gym at Aerotique Columbus, attempted to beat the world record of the most spins while suspended by her hair. On July 29, the video was reviewed, the numbers were confirmed, and Hotopp’s name is officially in the book.
“I knew I broke it but was very concerned that I somehow forgot to fill something out and all the hype would be for nothing,” Hotopp laughed.

Spinning 93 times in only 30 seconds, Hotopp blew the previous record holders out of the water, which was a tie between Polina Karvovskaya and Sara Spadoni, who spun only 68 turns in 30 seconds.
Now Hotopp has taken her record-breaking spin on the road, still as fast as the first time.
“Since I broke the record, I’ve gotten to debut my hair hang and hula hoop act with Circus Anastasini and have done it almost 20 times this month!” she said.
