‘Shit-faced Shakespeare’ is coming to Columbus, and it’s exactly what you think

Whether you’re facing the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune or slinging back a few drinks, a theater production headed to Columbus is making Shakespeare more approachable with booze.

Shit-faced Shakespeare is coming to the Southern Theatre on Sept. 25 at 8 p.m.. The now internationally-popular performance features–you guessed it– a lead actor who quite literally gets drunk on stage (the bar at the Southern Theatre will be open during the production as well, in case you’d like to do some method acting of your own).

“An entirely serious Shakespeare play, with an entirely shit-faced cast member. The original, award winning, international smash-hit direct from London’s West End,” a press release for the production reads.

The Columbus leg of Shit-faced Shakespeare will feature a production of Macbeth. Last year, Shit-faced Shakespeare: Hamlet was performed in Columbus.

Beginning in the UK in 2010, Shit-faced Shakespeare made its way to the US in 2015. Tickets, which start at $34.50, go on sale July 31 at 10 a.m. They can be purchased online or at the CAPA ticket center at the Ohio Theatre.
