Trader Joe’s confirms plans for long-awaited new Columbus location

Trader Joe’s has confirmed plans to open a new store near Polaris, giving Central Ohio shoppers another location for the popular grocery chain.

The new store is planned for 2109 Ikea Way, according to city building records and a statement from the company. While Trader Joe’s has not announced an opening timeline, permit activity indicates the project is moving forward.

“We have plans for a new store in Columbus,” Trader Joe’s Public Relations Manager Nakia Rohde said in an email to 614Now. “We do not have any details to confirm at this time.”

City records show the shell building at the site was permitted in April and remains under construction. A plumbing permit was issued July 21, while an interior fit-out application for Trader Joe’s is currently under review by the city.

The Polaris location would become the third Trader Joe’s in the Columbus area, joining the chain’s existing stores at Easton and on Sawmill Road in Dublin. The company has not yet added the Polaris location to its official list of upcoming store openings.
