The post said, “We had a little unexpected situation today and ended up with almost 200 pizzas that needed a home. Rather than let good food go to waste, we’re loading them up and sending them around Groveport to some of the people and organizations that serve our community every day, fire, police, schools, city offices, local businesses and more. We’re also keeping 50 pizzas at Little Italy to give away for FREE. Come grab one while they last. First come, first served. No purchase necessary. 1 per person max please, we want to spread the love as far as possible. Sometimes things don’t go according to plan, but there’s usually a way to make something good out of it. Creating lasting memories worth sharing, one unexpected pizza at a time.”
According to the restaurant via comments, the mistake was due to a misread of the ticket—the pizzas were ordered for 10 p.m. not 10 a.m. The restaurant cited a little over 3k in losses. However, the community has responded with an outpouring of support for the restaurant. The pizzas were all claimed, and many commenters are praising the restaurant’s response. One user said, “I cant imagine the cost of this loss of sale, but I will forever be a customer now after reading this post! What a classy way to handle it with the care and thought of the community.” Pizzas went to firefighters, neighbors, longtime customers, and first-time customers. Little Italy Ristorante is located at 480 Main St., in Groveport. You can follow them here for updates and announcements, they’re open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
