Ace of Cups owner opens new cocktail bar concept Downtown
This new cocktail bar concept is taking the Columbus bar scene back to the basics this summer.
Let Me Roll It, located at 132 E Fifth Ave., is a new bar concept from Ace of Cups owner Conor Stratton, swapping the loud, chaotic energy of the concert venue for a more laid-back energy for everyday visitors.
“I think it’s fitting in a little hole that I think people will really appreciate,” Stratton said.
The bar’s name is inspired by Stratton’s father and their bond over music, specifically the Beatles and the Paul McCartney track. Let Me Roll It features a ‘70s aesthetic and an emphasis on its music.
Free of detached conversations and curated playlists, the bar will be keeping it analog.
“We’re putting a big emphasis on no screens, we’re catered towards conversation. We’re collecting vinyl records and cassette tapes to be our main source of music,” he said.
Stratton’s goal for Let Me Roll It is to start a record exchange with patrons and to engage with the community. If someone doesn’t see a record they want played, they are encouraged to bring in their vinyls in exchange for drinks, creating a memorable experience for guests to come back.
“Music wasn’t just like something that you just swiped on or skipped,” he said. “To put a little intention in finding records and putting one on is a special thing.”

The menu will also focus on its intention. With a cocktail list spearheaded by Jordan Mitchell, a former mixologist at The Bottle Shop, Stratton and business partner Sarah Fleming are paying attention to affordability and not adding high costs to their drinks.
“We want [guests] to feel welcome and we want them to feel they’re not going to be sad the next day when they look at their bank account. It’s important to us” he said.
Although originally planning for a June opening, remodeling and the permit process have caused a few setbacks. Stratton is hoping for a soft opening in mid-July before a grand opening at the end of the month.
