After 22 years, Downtown restaurant announces permanent closure

Following a run of more than two decades, Downtown Italian eatery Due Amici has shuttered.

The restaurant, which was located at 67 E. Gay St., announced the closure this morning.

It’s unclear why the staple Downtown spot, which has served contemporary, upscale Italian cuisine since it opened in 2004, chose to close. A press release from the eatery only noted that “changing circumstances in Downtown have led us to this decision.”

Due Amici’s last day was June 8, although it noted it plans to host any events that were previously scheduled at the space through the month of June.
 
“Serving this community has been an extraordinary privilege,” Due Amici owner Jeff Glavan said in a press release. “The relationships we’ve built and the memories we’ve shared will always be the greatest part of Due Amici’s legacy. We are deeply thankful to everyone who has walked through our doors over the past 22 years.”
