An eatery that opened its doors in 1988 is set to close them for good.

According to a lengthy statement posted on Monday by owner Cathy Shyu, the restaurant will close for good after service on March 31.

Cathy Shyu— the widow of Gary Shyu, who opened the eatery in 1988 and ran it until his death in 2021—said that China Bell had been sold to a new owner.

“Over the past several years after Gary passed away, China Bell has been in the center of the spotlight of Grove City,” Shyu’s post reads. “You all probably have heard multiple rumors that China Bell is going to close or already closed. Well, this time is for real. We are sold.”

China Bell is located at 1947 Stringtown Rd. in Grove City. Shyu invited customers to stop by before the eatery closes at the end of the month, and also noted it will resume its Sunday buffet throughout March, and will offer a final, two-day buffet March 28-29.
