After opening in June, this unique cafe and eatery has closed

A Columbus cafe that opened its doors just over two months ago has surprisingly—and quietly—closed them.

RC Diggers & Cafe is closed, at least temporarily. Despite boasting an “Open” sign in its front-facing windows, the doors of the eatery remain locked during business hours, and its recently-full shelves now stand totally empty. Google also lists the business as permanently closed.

The cafe, which held its soft opening on June 27, was located at 1049 Bethel. It’s unclear what caused the storefront to shutter. It’s also unclear if the closure is temporary, or if it plans to reopen the Northwest Side space, or at another location. RC Diggers did not return a request for comment.

The concept, which offered coffee drinks, baked goods, and other food items,  also featured remote controlled cranes and other construction trucks that could be operated by guests.
