Ichiban Bakery, which originally closed in 2022, is teasing a possible comeback. Located at 1157 Kenny Centre Mall, the bakery was a cult-favorite, and a hub for Asian treats. The hotdog bun was a particular favorite of mine. After closing, the location became VGET Cafe, which closed in 2025.
Ichiban is stirring conversation after a sign was spotted in its former storefront. The sign just reads “Ichiban,” paired with a bold thumbs-up logo. No announcement. No reopening details. Just enough to get people talking.
Kenny Centre is already a hub for Japanese and Asian food. If they do make a comeback, Ichiban is in great company with Belle’s Bread, Tensuke Market, and so much more. Stay tuned for more information.
