‘Because I Got Fries:’ After legal battle in Ohio, Rapper pairs with Rally’s to offer ‘Afroman Stix’
Ohio rapper Afroman is putting a new spin on his biggest hit – and there’s definitely a joke somewhere here about late-night munchies.
Afroman returned to the studio to record “Because I Got Fries,” a food-themed remake of his 2000 hit “Because I Got High,” in partnership with Rally’s. Also, as part of this new collaboration, participating Rally’s restaurants throughout Ohio are offering Afroman Stix & Fries Box, a $2.49 meal.
“Ohio is home,” Afroman said in a news release. “You’ve got those Famous Seasoned Fries, crispy Monsterella Stix, and three sauces to choose from—that’s my kind of box.”
The company is celebrating its 40th anniversary and has chosen Afroman to help celebrate.

This promotion is primarily focused on Ohio, although participating locations in Grand Rapids, Michigan, will also offer the Afroman box.
Afroman and Rally’s are also taking the collaboration on the road. The chain’s 43-foot Fry Love Express mobile kitchen is scheduled to appear at two stops on Afroman’s tour, handing out free Famous Seasoned Fries.
The truck will be in Paw Paw, Michigan, on Oct. 2 before heading to Cleveland on Oct. 10.
Afroman, who lives in Adams County, about 85 miles southwest of Columbus, has called Ohio home for nearly two decades.
“I came for the fries,” Afroman said. “and then I got more fries.”
