Citizen App reports sex inside of Cane’s; Here’s what the police report actually says
A viral Citizen app alert claiming that two people were getting freaky near the fried chicken inside a Raising Cane’s restaurant overstates what the Columbus Division of Police say actually happened.
You might’ve seen the screengrab: a Citizen app report showing a report of “two people having intercourse in Raising Cane’s lobby” near Graceland Shopping Center in Clintonville. Thousands of people clicked “like” on the post and even more shared it to their networks.
Naturally, curiosity got the best of us. So we requested the police report. According to the narrative, officers were dispatched Friday night to the Raising Cane’s at 5132 N. High St. after a call did indeed report a couple “having sex in a booth.” However, when officers arrived, they did not witness any sexual activity, the report states.

Police noted that two individuals were sitting closely together in a corner booth. Someone told police that another employee – who had already left the restaurant and declined to speak with police – claimed to see “tugging” under a blanket and that one person later sat on the other’s lap. Officers did not independently see those actions, according to the report.
It’s not clear why that employee didn’t want to talk to officers. But it is clear no sex-related charges were filed. Instead, both individuals were issued trespass notices and barred from the restaurant. The incident was documented as a criminal trespass case.
Citizen alerts are based on initial emergency calls and scanner traffic and are not official police findings.
Raising Cane’s did not immediately respond to a request for comment. We will update this story as soon as we hear back.
