Central Ohio grocery store is closing following 15-year run

Another Central Ohio Giant Eagle is on the way out.

According to a statement from company representatives, Giant Eagle’s Lancaster store, which is located at 1394 Ety Shops Way, will close for good this summer, although an exact date was provided.             

“This was a difficult, but necessary business decision made after careful review of store operations,” said Giant Eagle Senior Director of Public Relations Dan Donovan in a statement. “We are grateful for our Team Members and neighbors who have supported the store over the years, and we look forward to continuing to serve customers at our nearby Central Ohio locations.”

The store first opened over 15 years ago, and provides jobs for more than 60 individuals. Giant Eagle will attempt to transfer these individuals to other area locations

This is the second local Giant Eagle that has shuttered in recent months, as the brand’s store located at 6867 E. Broad St. closed in April.
