Columbus eatery lands on ‘USA Today’s’ top 39 restaurants of the year

A Columbus restaurant with plenty of local cred just landed some on the national level.

Veritas, the Downton hotspot from star Columbus chef Josh Dalton, just landed on USA Today’s list of the top 39 restaurants for 2026.  

“Our food writer says its main draw is the chef’s tasting menu, which is a series of small plates, all part of those overarching themes, that are ordered as one meal. Wines and cocktails, ordered as one beverage pairing, are matched to each course,” USA Today wrote.

Veritas, which originally opened in Delaware before moving to Downtown Columbus in 2017, is located at 11 W. Gay St.

Mita’s, the Cincinnati restaurant from James Beard Nominated Chef Jose Salazar, was the only other Ohio restaurant on the list.
