Columbus named one of the country’s ‘great pizza cities’ by national food website

Columbus pizza is getting some well-deserved recognition.

An article by Eater, a national food and dining site, spotlights the affordability, the thin, square-cut structure, and the edge-to-edge toppings of “Columbus-style” pies.

“And the style is gaining traction beyond the city limits, popping up on menus across the Midwest,” the article reads. “If you don’t know Columbus’s pizza already, you might soon.”

Eater regards family-owned staples like Terita’s, Minelli’s, and Massey’s, as well as locally owned chain giant Donatos. And in considering Columbus’s evolution as a pizza city, the article points to the culturally influenced pies at new pizzerias, such as the chicken shawarma pie at Auzy’s Pizza & Chicken and Moon Pizza’s tikka masala pizzas.

“Their pies may be the ones feeding future generations of proud, Ohio State-cheering, Columbus-style pizza advocates.”
