After closing last month, East Coast-inspired pizzeria finds new home; new name

This East Coast-inspired pizza kitchen is closing another chapter in its pizza journey.

Alberta’s Pizza Kitchen, a staple among the Columbus pizza scene, is transitioning into a newer concept named Alberta’s Pizza Tavern.

The kitchen officially shut down on May 9 with a quiet closure, similar to its original opening in 2020. Located at 541 S High St., within Classics Victorys Sports Bar in the brewery district, the pizza shop was a hotspot for ending a night out with a warm slice.

Alberta’s Pizza Tavern will be located at 1297 Parsons Ave., with a new menu, still full of fresh, local ingredients the city has grown to love.

While an official grand opening has not been announced, on June 26 and 27 from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., the tavern will offer a preview of its new menu items through carryout and delivery.

Alberta’s was founded in August 2020 by Doug Sauer, who named the pizza spot after his mother, and it continues to operate as a family-owned business.
