Columbus soul food spot closes after three years
A Columbus-owned catering business and its restaurant are ceasing operations after three years.
Fountains Take 2, co-owned by Chef Lemont Fountain, began as a food truck and catering venture and later shifted when Fountain acquired a 4,000-square-foot restaurant space, allowing Fountains Take 2 to thrive as a premier dining experience serving seafood and soul food in the area.
Located at 30 S. Young St., Fountains Take 2 provided daily meals to schools in the community, as well as hosted cooking classes for youth and adults to help foster a new generation of local chefs.
On July 27, Fountain unexpectedly posted on Facebook that Fountain Take 2 would close its doors and sell all kitchenware and equipment.

“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for allowing us to serve you. While Fountains Take 2 is closing its doors, the memories, friendships, and impact we’ve made together will always remain,” the post read.
While the restaurant may be closing its doors, Chef Fountain is still staying busy. Now operating out of Classics Victories, a new concept from Fountain: Chef Up. Serving classic bar food and lunch items.
Fountain is also seeking local partnerships to continue Fountain Take 2’s catering business. As the Chef hosted his final culinary camp, Fountain hopes to continue uplifting the community.
“A partnership with Fountains Take Two isn’t just supporting a business—it’s investing in the future of Columbus. My dream is to create a place where people can learn, work, grow, and succeed. A place where food becomes a pathway to opportunity,” he said.
