Gatto’s Pizza is a Clintonville favorite that started on North High St. over 50 years ago. In 1952, brothers Joe and Jimmy Gatto opened the pizzeria to serve their community, using family recipes to make fresh dough, sauces, meatballs, and Italian sausage. Now located at 3420 Indianola Ave., Tony DeRubertis took over operations in 2019, and told 614Now that the goal was always to expand. He said, “Good food at a good price, that’s what’s important to us. It’s a great situation at Hoof Hearted—there’s a small patio, we’ll be able to offer walk up and carry out orders.” According to DeRubertis, you can expect pizza, salads, subs, wings, and some pasta options. They’re planning to experiment with the new location’s menu and see what sticks.
The Columbus-style pizza is a perfect match for the Ohio-based brewing company. The Hoof Hearted taproom located at 26 E. 5th Ave. first opened in 2024, and has featured a rotating selection of food trucks parked on-site. The partnership with Gatto’s will offer a more permanent food option for customers. The partnership goes both ways, you can now buy Hoof Hearted brews at Gatto’s Indianola location. Follow Gatto’s Pizza and Hoof Hearted on Instagram for updates and an opening announcement. They are aiming for a June opening—stay tuned!
