Decades-old Columbus pizzeria opening anticipated new location

A West Side staple is preparing to open its doors on the South Side.

The historic Columbus spot Josie’s Original Pizza will hold the grand opening of its new eatery on July 10. It will be located at 1675 Holt Rd., near the Hollywood Casino Columbus.

Josie’s is taking over the space that formerly housed Santino’s Pizza. According to fourth-generation co-owner Austin Catalfina, the brand has spent the last several months renovating its new home.

The Original Josie’s Pizza bas been serving Columbus-style pies to the city’s West Side for over 60 years. The restaurant’s first storefront, which opened in 1959, was located at 952 W. Broad St., although in 2021 it relocated just several hundred feet away to its new home, which is located at 894 W. Broad St.

Josie’s Pizza Hilltop, which is located at 3205 W. Broad St., operates separately from the Original Josie’s Pizza.

Fans of the brand may have even more to look forward to as well, as Catalfina told 614Now last month that the popular Columbus pizza spot is planning at least one additional new location as well.
