Fire forces temporary closure of fast food restaurant

The Sonic Drive-In on Olentangy River Road is temporarily closed, according to the restaurant’s official website, and signage posted at the location points to a fire as the reason why. 

The restaurant’s official website displays a “temporarily closed” notice with no details on a reopening. A sign seen on the restaurant says the closure is due to a recent fire.

614Now attempted to contact the restaurant by phone Wednesday with no answer. 614Now also reached out to Sonic via email for additional details about the closure and potential reopening timeline. The restaurant has yet to respond.

It’s unclear when the fire occurred or how extensive the damage may be. In 2024, the Olentangy River Road Roosters location right across the street was also damaged by a fire. It just reopened last fall.

For Sonic fans looking for an alternative, nearby locations include Sonic Drive-In near Polaris, Sonic Drive-In on Stelzer Road near Easton and Sonic Drive-In on East Broad Street.
