Food reviewer visiting every Asian buffet in Ohio until he gets food poisoning

Some people collect Michelin stars. One Ohio food reviewer is collecting buffet plates.

The creator behind “mullet reviews” has gone viral after launching a series documenting visits to Chinese and Asian buffets across Ohio with one admittedly questionable goal: eating at them until he eventually gets food poisoning.

The videos, which have spread across YouTube, TikTok, Facebook and Instagram, follow the same formula. Mullet reviews walks viewers through each buffet, piles several plates with everything from crab rangoons to pizza and sushi, rates the food, and ends each episode by revealing whether the challenge continues another day.

The series has already taken him to buffets throughout Ohio, including stops in Middletown, Springboro, Beechmont and Columbus. Each installment is labeled by the day of the challenge, with recent videos reaching well beyond 20 consecutive buffet visits.

Despite the tongue-in-cheek premise, many viewers say they appreciate that mullet reviews often highlights locally owned restaurants that might otherwise fly under the radar. On Reddit, fans have called him “my favorite food influencer on the internet” and praised him for bringing attention to small businesses, while others have debated whether the challenge is as appetizing as it is entertaining.

For now, the challenge lives on.

And despite dozens of buffet visits, mullet reviews still hasn’t officially declared defeat to food poisoning.
