Local restaurant group announces opening date for new eatery replacing Howl at the Moon piano bar
This former nightlife space has evolved into a neighborhood restaurant and bar inspired by the flavors of Latin America, Spain, and the Mediterranean.
Sugar, once a late-night bar on Park Street more than a decade ago, has been reclaimed by One Hospitality and reimagined into a social house concept focused on all-day dining and a welcoming atmosphere built for every occasion.
The restaurant will be opening August 27 at 504 Park St., featuring an expansive patio, thoughtful food, and an elevated agave cocktail program. Sugar’s mission is to be the kind of place guests can stop in for lunch, happy hour, dinner, weekend brunch, or a spontaneous drink that turns into an evening with friends.
With two floors of dining connected by a custom staircase and surrounded by custom-drawn wallpaper, lush greenery leading to the outdoor patio covered by cabanas and scattered with fire pits and lounge seating, the bold and approachable feel reflects the flavors Sugar offers.

The Latin and Mediterranean influences of the menu center around dishes meant to be shared, from vibrant starters such as house-made dips to tacos, fresh seafood, and satisfying entrees. Each menu item is encouraged to be explored with the cocktail program Sugar offers as well. Taking inspiration from the Latin world with a margarita-forward menu and an agave-focused spirits program, guests can explore tequila and mezcal through approachable pours and curated tasting flights, with the selection continuing to grow.
To celebrate the opening, One Hospitality will host Sugar’s Grand Opening Party on Thursday, August 27, from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. The ticketed event will transform Park Street into a street party with a lively celebration of food, music, and community, bringing art and entertainment back to one of Columbus’ most iconic districts. Guests can enjoy signature cocktails, light bites, live DJ sets, street food, local vendors, and expanded outdoor seating with fire pits and cabanas, with neighboring One Hospitality concepts joining in the celebration.
