This German Village staple is getting an upgrade.

Lindey’s, located at 169 E. Beck St., received approval on July 1 during the German Village Commission special meeting to renovate its second-floor patio area.

“What we are trying to do now is address all the things that are failing basically, get all the maintenance issues done, invest in that, and get a good platform to build from,” said architect Julie Bullock in the meeting.

Renovations include replacing the outdoor carpet with decking, repainting, and removing the French doors. According to Bullock, the majority of the wear and tear has resulted from years of weather and quick-fix patch-up work.

The improvements substitute for an earlier plan, which included a large canopy over the patio, estimated at more than $1 million.

The current renovation plans were approved unanimously, and it is unclear when the project will begin.

Lindey’s also took the top spot in the ColumBEST category of Best Overall Restaurant, in addition to several others. You can check out the full 2026 ColumBEST results below.
